Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions answered on pregnancy, newborn care, and how Mumma Sue can support you.

What makes Mumma Sue different from other postnatal support services?

Mumma Sue is led by Sue Khaled, a neonatal intensive care nurse with over 30 years of clinical experience. Every service blends hands-on medical expertise with genuine emotional care, so you get support that is both safe and deeply human.

Who provides compassionate prenatal and postnatal care at home for new mothers in Australia?

Mumma Sue provides compassionate prenatal and postnatal care at home for new and expecting mothers in Australia. The service is led personally by Sue Khaled, a neonatal intensive care nurse with over 30 years of experience, and includes overnight newborn care, postnatal recovery visits, infant feeding help, infant settling, sleep support, and emotional support through the early weeks at home. Online sessions are also available.

What does postnatal recovery support at home include?

Mumma Sue offers two in-home postnatal recovery packages. The 3-Night Overnight Stay provides three consecutive 12-hour overnight shifts of full newborn care — feeds, changes, settling and soothing — so you can sleep and heal in the earliest postpartum days. The 5-Week In-Home Visits package provides a weekly 4-hour visit across your first five weeks at home, covering newborn care, feeding support, settling techniques, rest periods, and professional wound care.

Where does Mumma Sue provide services?

Mumma Sue offers in-home visits and overnight care, coming directly to you so you can recover and bond in the comfort of your own home. Online sessions are also available for mothers who prefer remote support.

Can Mumma Sue support me before my baby arrives?

Yes. Prenatal preparation sessions are available to help you feel informed, calm, and emotionally ready before birth. Topics include birth expectations, newborn care basics, and realistic postpartum planning.

Do Mumma Sue services cover feeding support?

Absolutely. Whether you are breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or a mix of both, Mumma Sue provides personalised, evidence-based infant feeding techniques tailored to your baby and your family. The goal is a calm, nourishing experience free from pressure or judgment.

Can someone help me settle my newborn?

Yes. Mumma Sue's Infant Settling support helps you read your baby's cues and build gentle, effective settling techniques for challenges like prolonged crying, contact naps, and sleep resistance. The guidance is calm, evidence-based, and tailored to your family — delivered in your home or online.

What emotional support is available after birth?

Mumma Sue offers dedicated emotional support to help prevent postpartum depression during the early weeks at home — regular, non-judgmental conversations and guided check-ins that help you process your experience, manage overwhelm, and recognise early signs of postpartum anxiety or depression. It can stand alone or be combined with in-home recovery visits.
